CONCERN CELEBRATES PITKIN GRAND OPENING

On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, city and state officials, Brooklyn Community Board Members, and supportive housing advocates gathered for the ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening of Concern Pitkin – a newly constructed mixed income, multifamily housing development. Nearly five dozen units of housing will serve seniors and homeless adults with psychiatric disabilities.

The 43,000 square foot building at the intersection of Warwick Street and Pitkin Avenue in Brooklyn includes program offices for supportive services, fitness room, laundry room, computer lounge and a community room with access to the landscaped and furnished rear yard. In addition to providing supportive and affordable housing, the project also successfully reclaimed a contaminated site, converting it into a vibrant residence for low-income, formerly homeless, and senior populations that comes close to meeting passive home standards. The transformation of this previously unused and blighted property will benefit the new building’s residents and the entire community.
