Concern Announces New Supported Housing Program

Concern is pleased to announce that we are expanding our Supported Housing Program with the development of Share XIV, Inc. Concern has been awarded over $3,000,000 by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development through its Section 811 Program. This program will provide safe, affordable housing with support services to twelve individuals in six houses in Suffolk County.

Concern's Culinary Program a Success

During 2009, Concern was able to successfully coordinate and participate in the New York State Office of Mental Health and New York State Department of Labor Employment Initiative. The purpose of this opportunity was to encourage people in recovery to further their educational background so that they could begin to acquire skills which would present them with more employment opportunities. As a result of this initiative, Concern coordinated with Suffolk County Community College to develop a 10 week culinary program specifically designed for our residents. Today, 11 of Concern’s residents have graduated from the culinary program and 9 are currently enrolled in the program
